Farm Coverage

Comprehensive farm insurance — built for how farmers actually operate

We write farm policies that cover the whole operation, not just the house on the property.

🚗

Farm Equipment & Machinery

Modern farm equipment is a massive investment. We cover your tractors, combines, planters, and specialty equipment — on and off the farm.

  • Tractors & combines
  • Planters, sprayers & tillage equipment
  • Specialty & custom equipment
  • Equipment in transit coverage
  • Scheduled equipment floaters
🐄

Livestock & Poultry

Whether you run beef cattle, dairy, hogs, or poultry, we write livestock coverage that protects your herd value — including transit and disease riders where available.

  • Beef & dairy cattle
  • Hogs & swine operations
  • Poultry flocks
  • Horses & equine coverage
  • Livestock in transit
👕

Farm Liability

Farm liability protects you if someone is injured on your property or as a result of your farming operations — including agritourism and farm stand activities.

  • Premises & operations liability
  • Products & completed operations
  • Custom farming liability
  • Agritourism coverage
  • Farm umbrella policies
🍏

Crops & Grain

Stored grain, growing crops, and commodity risk — we write coverage for grain in storage and connect clients with federal crop insurance programs where appropriate.

  • Stored grain coverage
  • Grain in transit
  • Farm produce & crops
  • Federal crop insurance referrals
🏠

Hobby & Small Farm

You don't have to run 500 acres to need a farm policy. If you have animals, sell produce, or have farm structures, a hobby farm policy fills the gaps a homeowners policy leaves behind.

  • Small acreage operations
  • Horse boarding & equestrian
  • Market gardens & CSAs
  • Backyard livestock operations
Our Farm Expertise

Farm insurance from the Midwest to the coasts

We started in the fields of southeastern Wisconsin and never stopped growing. Today we write farm policies across the Midwest and well beyond — grain and dairy operations in Wisconsin and Illinois, row-crop farms across Iowa, Indiana, and the Plains states, and specialty operations out to California. The counties and the crops change; the approach doesn't.

As an independent agency affiliated with Robertson Ryan & Associates, we have access to farm-specific programs from multiple carriers — including carriers that specialize in agricultural risks across the Midwest and national markets.

  • Licensed across the United States. We write farm policies from the Midwest to the coasts — one agent, complete coverage wherever your operation is.
  • Multiple farm carriers. We compare farm-specific programs across carriers to find the right fit for your operation.
  • Annual farm reviews. Operations change — equipment changes, herd sizes change. We review farm policies every year.
  • Claims advocacy. A farm loss can be devastating. We're in your corner through every claim.
⚠️ Does your homeowners policy really cover your farm?
Standard homeowners policies have strict limits on farm activities, equipment, and livestock. If you have animals, machinery, farm workers, or sell any agricultural products — a homeowners policy almost certainly has dangerous coverage gaps. A dedicated farm policy closes those gaps and typically costs less than you expect.

Common questions

Farm insurance premiums vary widely based on the size of your operation, structures, equipment value, livestock, and coverage limits. The only way to get an accurate number is a quote — call us and we'll put one together quickly, wherever your operation is located.
Farm equipment used primarily on the farm is typically covered under a farm policy. However, farm vehicles driven on public roads — like tractors moving between fields or farm trucks — need to be addressed separately. Some farm policies include coverage for farm vehicles; others require a separate commercial auto policy. We'll make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Yes. As an independent agency licensed across the United States, we regularly write coverage for operations that cross state lines — whether that's grazing land in multiple states, a grain operation with facilities in different locations, or seasonal work that moves with the harvest. One agent, one policy review, complete coverage.
A standard homeowners policy doesn't cover barns, equipment, livestock, or farm liability. A standard business policy doesn't account for the seasonal nature of farming, crop risk, or agricultural equipment. A farm policy is purpose-built for working land — it covers your dwelling, outbuildings, equipment, livestock, crops, and farm liability under one package designed specifically for how farms operate.
Often, yes — but it depends on how the policy is written. Mobile equipment like tractors, balers, and implements can usually be covered while in transit or working on rented or neighboring land, but the policy has to be set up for it. If you do custom work, lease ground in another county, or move equipment between sites, tell us up front so we can confirm your machinery is covered everywhere it actually operates — not just at the home farm.
